Truck fire on Connector

Update August 13, 9:30 a.m.

According to police, the driver reported having problems with the truck and was returning to the Lower Mainland to have maintenance done.

He was able to escape the truck before the flames engulfed the cab.

A semi truck burst into flames on the Okanagan Connector near West Kelowna Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m.

The blaze sent thick plumes of black smoke into the air and brought traffic to a halt in both directions.

Fire crews allowed the truck to burn out for a short period of time upon arrival, before dousing the flames.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

We’ll bring you more details once they become available.
