Show your appreciation of Canada’s lakes: snap a pic and vote

Share your love of lakes

Calling all lake lovers.

July is Lakes Appreciation Month and Living Lakes Canada is inviting individuals across the country to show they love their lake by getting involved in the second annual Lake Biodiversity Photo Challenge.

The photo challenge is a celebration of the beauty of Canada’s two million lakes while also raising awareness around what’s threatening their biodiversity.

Until July 31, lake photos can be entered online in three different categories:

  1. Most Biodiverse (plants and wildlife)
  2. Most Impacted (pollution, wildfire smoke, etc.)
  3. Kids Category for children 12 and under.

Submit your photos using the online submission form at lakeblitz.livinglakescanada.ca or by email to [email protected], or tag your photos on social media using #LakeBlitzPhoto.

All photos entered into the contest are displayed in an online gallery found at lakeblitz.livinglakescanada.ca with weekly highlights shared on Living Lakes Canada’s social media channels.

Want to get involved but don’t have any photos to share? Then help choose a Public Favourite in each photo category. Visit the online gallery and select your top 3 photos — as more photos come in, you can easily change your vote. Prizes from Kicking Horse Coffee, Lush Cosmetics and DAVIDsTEA will go out to the 3 Public Favourite winners and to 3 Judges’ Favourite winners as well. Winners in the 12 and under categories will receive age-appropriate prizes that inspire curiosity of the natural world.
