The COVID-19 pandemic has grounded the Canadian Forces Snowbirds until at least the end of the month.
In a brief statement Tuesday morning, the Royal Canadian Air Force announced it is suspending all support to air shows and other special events until April 30.
That includes the Snowbirds, who have taken a pause from flying at their home base of 15 Wing Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan to maintain social distancing practices.
Lt.-Col. Mike French, commanding officer of the Snowbirds, says the pause means the air demonstration team will now be making its annual trip west to train at 19 Wing in Comox in May.
French says the pause in training will also affect its 2020 show season, however, the full extent of that is not yet known.
The Snowbirds were not scheduled to perform in the Okanagan this year.
Their first Canadian show was scheduled for North Bay, ON. June 10.
