One in eight Canadian adults believe COVID-19 is overblown and these people are the least likely to follow hygiene and social distancing measures.
According to a study from the Angus Reid Institute, since COVID-19 evolved in Canadian communities, opinions towards the threat of the virus have changed. What was once curiosity and skepticism is now acceptance and anxiety towards how quickly the virus is spreading.
However, while there are more than 5,500 cases of COVID-19 in Canada touching almost everywhere in the nation, one in eight adults still believe that COVID-19 has been overblown.
The study has proven that those who are not worried about the virus are less likely to be social distancing themselves from others or public places and they are not washing their hands as often.
Another interesting finding is that people who are unconvinced on the seriousness of the virus are likely to have voted for the Conservative Party of Canada during the 2019 federal election.
