Canadians don't think the truth behind Flight 752 will be revealed

Will truth come out of Iran?

According to a new study from the Angus Reid Institute, Canadians don't believe the truth behind the Flight 752 tragedy will ever be revealed.

A Ukraine Airlines plane which was shot down during takeoff on Jan. 8 killed all 176 people on board, including 57 Canadians.

The survey revealed that seven-in-ten Canadians don't believe a full and truthful accounting of what happened will ever come out of Iran.

The plane was shot on the same night Iran had launched missile attacks on two U.S. bases located in Iraq. This occurred in retaliation for a U.S. drone attack which killed an Iranian general.

Following the aircraft tragedy, Iran claimed the incident was unrelated to tensions with the U.S. but quickly after, Iran stated they shot Flight 752 by mistake because they believed it was an incoming cruise missile.

Canada and Iran currently have no official diplomatic relations but 51 per cent of Canadians want to partially re-establish relations after this attack.
