Canada's best biffy

Maybe you should put Lac la Biche, Alta., on your list of must-see Canadian destinations.

Why, you ask? The Beaverhill Shell gas station in the tiny community in Northern Alberta is the 2019 winner of Canada's best bathroom.

This is the same contest that BNA in Kelowna ranked second in 2015.

The washrooms at Beaverhill Shell were designed with the comfort of customers in mind. Unlike conventional rest-stops, they feature luxurious details throughout, Cintas Canada said in describing the facilities.

"Clean lines like herringbone-patterned wall and floor tile, paired with sleek wall sconces, shining chandeliers and large, decorative mirrors create a modern, yet rustic look. Meanwhile, simple details like relaxing artwork and warm, wooden stall doors make the washrooms stand out.

"The Beaverhill Shell washrooms create a new rest stop experience and raise the standard of gas station bathrooms."

Finalists were selected based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements.

Operators of the station were said to be 'flushed with pride.' They are also flush with cash, winning $2,500 from Cintas for the honour.
