Police outside a nightclub in the Gay Village
Montreal police say a tourist from California is in critical condition after the man fell four storeys early Monday.
The incident took place at a popular bar in the Gay Village in the city's downtown core.
Police say the 29-year-old man had been at the patio of the bar and tried to climb the next door building's fire escape to get to the roof.
They say he lost his footing and fell about four flights to the ground, where officers found him unconscious on the sidewalk.
Const. Caroline Chevrefils says police consider the event an accident.
