Vancouver to host 2024 Grey Cup

Vancouver to host Grey Cup

Vancouver will host the 111th Grey Cup in 2024, the CFL club announced this morning.

BC Place Stadium last hosted the CFL championship and the surrounding festival in 2014. 2024 would be the 10th time Canadian football’s crown-jewel event is held in the Vancouver facility.

The club has seen a resurgence in its first full year under new owner Amar Doman, reaching a 12-6 record and qualifying for hosting a home playoff game Sunday against Calgary.

The game is the first home playoff game for a Vancouver-based major league sports team in more than five years.

In July, Doman named Duane Vienneau as new Lions COO, taking over operations from outgoing president Rick LeLacheur (who oversaw the ownership transition from former owner David Bradley’s estate to Doman last year).

Of note, Vienneau was previously the chief Grey Cup and events officer at the CFL and served as executive director of two Grey Cups in Edmonton.
