Press Release
Waterplay Manufacturing Inc., a Kelowna manufacturer that designs and markets aquatic playground equipment, recently completed a project in Alabama for ABC’s hit show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition which will air this Sunday, March 6th at 8/7C.
“We approached the Producers of the show and they responded immediately by including us on their next build. It all happened so quickly and we were so excited,” stated Sheila Randall, Waterplay’s Global Sales Representative who initially contacted the show’s Producer.
Craig White, President of Sales and Operations and Laura Reid, Design and Project Coordinator for Waterplay, traveled to Birmingham to oversee the installation. They were both amazed at the logistical feat the crew achieved to completely rebuild and landscape a family home in seven days. Skeptical from the onset, Reid explained that after seeing it first hand, she was extremely impressed. “The house is ultimately rebuilt in 5 days since the first day is spent emptying the house and the second day is spent knocking it down and readying the site. I’ve never seen such a coordinated effort and hard work. Day or night, the site is full of workers. It truly is extreme!”
The house in Birmingham was rebuilt for the Harris family of 9 which includes sextuplets who are now 3 years old. The backyard Waterplay spraypark consisted of custom graphic water- o’s with panels of a bear and a honey pot, towering flowers, water cannons painted as bees and a series of ground sprays. White concludes, “The backyard market is a great place for Waterplay products as a stand alone park or to complement a pool. We feel great knowing that the Harris children will have endless hours of fun interactive play, and that their parents can relax knowing that they are safe.”
Waterplay’s suppliers were equally excited to be part of the project and donated their own labour and in some instances costs as well. Excel Metal Fabricators, Jerry Ashley Designs, Protek Powder Coaters, Exel Transportation Services and Vak Pak Inc. all pitched in to make the project happen on a very tight timeline. Watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Sundays 8/7c on ABC.
