BC Ferries’ third Island-class hybrid electric ferry arrives in Victoria

B.C. Ferries’ third Island-class hybrid electric ferry pulled in at Ogden Point and then headed to Point Hope Maritime on Thursday after sailing from Romania to Victoria.

The vessel will be checked over at Point Hope and then transferred to B.C. Ferries.

The ferry, which has yet to receive a name, was built by Damen Shipyards. It is currently known as Island 3.

Another Island-class ferry recently passed through the Panama Canal and two more are still under construction in Romania.

The third and fourth Island-class ferries will serve Campbell River and Quadra Island starting next year.
