Salmon Arm's Natalie Wilkie adds second gold at Beijing Paralympics

Second gold for Wilkie

Salmon Arm cross-country skier Natalie Wilkie has won her second gold of the Beijing Paralympic Games.

Wilkie won her first gold in the sprint and second in the 15-kilometre standing ski.

The 21-year-old biathlete improved upon her sixth-place finish in the 15-km cross in 2018, in PyeongChang.

She has a total of five medals in her first two Paralympics.

Wilkie grew up a high-performance junior cross-country skier and was invited to the Para-Nordic program following a workshop accident at school in which she lost four fingers on her left hand.

The young athlete still has more events to come in Beijing, with an opportunity to add more hardware to her growing collection.

The 7.5-km cross country and 4x2.5-km relay are still to get underway.
