Dear Cop - Class 7 Restrictions

I'm seventeen years old and have a class 7 New driver license as of Nov 2004. On the back of the license the restrictions say: Novice stage restrictions.

Display an N sign
There must be no alcohol in your body when you drive
Carry only one passenger

You are limited to one passenger unless you have a supervisor 25 years or older with a valid Class 1 - 5 driver's license. This restriction does not apply to immediate family members: mother, father, sister, brother, child, spouse, grandparent including step and foster relationships.

My brother is twenty years old and received his class 7 license before October 2003. On the back of his license he doesn't have the same restrictions. Do these restrictions still apply to him?

The restrictions you have on your drivers license do not apply to your brother. To help reduce new drivers' crashes, in October 2003 ICBC introduced new graduated licensing rules. The new rules and restrictions found on the back of a drivers license apply to:

Drivers who started graduated licensing before October 6, 2003, and renew their Novice license instead of obtaining a full-privilege Class 5 license.
Drivers who started graduated licensing on or after October 6, 2003.
