Warriors open on 'unlucky' Friday

The West Kelowna Warriors hope it's not an omen, or, perhaps it will be an omen for the Merritt Centennials.

The Warriors will open the home portion of the 2013-2014 BC Hockey League season against the Centennials Friday, Sept. 13 at Royal LePage Place.

The special theme night possibilities are endless.

The BCHL unveiled its 2013-2014 regular season schedule earlier this week.

The 58 game schedule will see each team open the regular season with the league's second annual Showcase Event in Chilliwack Sept 6, 7 and 8.

Each club will play two games at the Showcase Event.

The Warriors 28-game home schedule features 23 weekend games (10 on Friday, nine on Saturday and four on Sunday) and five on a Tuesday night.

They will face the other five teams in the Interior Division 36 times, 18 at home and 18 on the road. West Kelowna get Merritt eight times and the other four teams seven each.

The Warriors face Penticton and Trail four times each on home ice while traveling to Vernon and Salmon Arm four times.

The schedule also includes a home-and-home against the five teams from both the Island and Mainland divisions.

They get an extra game with Nanaimo and Surrey from the Showcase Event.

The Warriors will close out the regular season Saturday, March 1 against the Trail Smoke Eaters.
