Dominant second leads Silverbacks past Warriors

Warriors lost weekend

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks scored three unanswered goals during a dominant second period en route to a 4-1 victory over the visiting West Kelowna Warriors Saturday.

The Siverbacks trailed 1-0 before erupting in the middle frame, taking advantage of three power play opportunities to pepper starter Justin Katz with 18 shots.

CJ Foley tied it midway through the period at even strength, then, Hayden Stavroff and Ethan Ulrick connected on the power play to put the home side up a pair.

Brandon Santa Juana hit the empty net in the final minute to seal it.

Ben MacDonald scored the lone goal for the Warriors five minutes into the game.

Salmon Arm outshot the Warriors 45-30 over the course of the night.

The Warriors, who had won five in a row, have now dropped two straight to begin a stretch of seven straight away from Royal LePage Place.

The win moved the Siverbacks to within three points of the third place Warriors.
