Vees goalie commits to York

Penticton Vees goaltender Carter Serhyenko has committed to York University of USports for the 2022/23.

The Saskatoon-born 19-year-old joined the Vees after the holiday break in 2021, and finished the season with a 10-2-0-1 record along with a .893 save percentage.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to play hockey at York University,” commented Serhyenko.

“My teammates, coaches and the entire Vees organization has made my short time in Penticton memorable. I’m hoping to end my junior career with a BCHL championship.”

The program is based in Toronto and plays in Canada's USports collegiate hockey circuit.

Meanwhile, the Vees are in the battle for the Fred Page Cup, starting their final series of the playoffs against the Nanaimo Clippers this Friday, May 13.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. in Penticton at the South Okanagan Events Centre, with tickets available online here.
