Penticton Vees name new assistant captain ahead of season

New Vees assistant captain

As the Penticton Vees get closer to their first regular season game of 2021/2, they are finalizing their leadership roster, including naming forward Casey McDonald as assistant captain.

McDonald, 20, has played with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League for the past two seasons, where he also served as assistant captain.

He has scored three goals over the Vees' exhibition games in recent weeks.

"I’m incredibly excited to be a part of a really strong leadership group with this team,” stated McDonald, “We have some great voices in this room with Fin (Williams), Luc (Wilson) and Frank (Djurasevic) and it’s an honour to be able to represent this team and city as an assistant captain.”

The regular season opens at the South Okanagan Events Centre this Friday night at 7 p.m. against the Vernon Vipers.

Tickets are now on sale at the SOEC box office as well as online.

The Vees will be honouring their history with a look back to the 1985/86 Penticton Knights, wearing special Knights jerseys and hosting members of the 85/86 team for the opening puck drop.
