Vernon Vipers triumph over West Kelowna Warriors in a 4-1 win on Saturday night

Vipers wipe out Warriors

The Vernon Vipers picked up a 4-1 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors on Saturday night, with two goals right off the start in the first period.

Saturday night’s game followed a similar pattern to Friday night’s for the Vernon team. The Vipers earned one goal on the powerplay from Reagan Millburn and another from Zack Tonelli off a Warriors turnover in their own zone.

The Warriors would come back of their own on the man advantage courtesy of Tyson Jugnauth making it 2-1 Vipers when the first period concluded.

The Vipers would score their third goal off when Luke Buss slid one past the Warriors goaltender Johnny Derrick, giving them s stronger lead. The Warriors found themselves in the penalty box again in the second period, which the Vipers used to score with Reagan Millburn placing the puck off a Warriors stick and in.

Starting in the third with three goal up, the Warriors couldn't reach the comeback they wanted, allowing the Vipers to skate off with the victory Saturday night.

The BCHL’s regular season begins next week. The Warriors are back in action Saturday, Oct. 9 against the Prince George Spruce Kings. Puck drop at 7 p.m. from Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna.

The Warriors will honour the firefighters that kept their community safe last August.
