Warriors drop fourth in a row, 6-2 in Salmon Arm

Backs take down Warriors

The West Kelowna Warriors were unable to make up ground on the Prince George Spruce Kings.

A night after they officially booked their ticket to the playoffs, the Warriors fell to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 6-2.

The loss leaves them three points in back of the Spruce Kings, as those teams battle for playoff seeding.

The team with the better record will face Trail in the opening round of the playoffs. The other team draw Interior Division champion Penticton.

The Warriors were within a goal heading into the final period, but a pair of early goals spelled the difference.

They had a chance to get back in the game, but were unable to beat Grant Adams on a lengthy five-on-three power play.

Simon Tassy led the way for the Silverbacks with three goals and an assist. William Poirier, Lucas Breault and Coalson Wolford also scored for Salmon Arm.

Nick Ardenaz and Brendan Pigeon replied for the Warriors who trailed 1-0 after one and 3-2 after 40 minutes.

The Warriors have just four games remaining in the regular season, including three against the Vernon Vipers. West Kelowna hold a 3-1 series edge against the Vipers.

They play in Vernon Saturday before hosting Trail Monday afternoon at 2:30.

They close out the regular season the following weekend with a home-and-home with Vernon.
