The Penticton Vees earned their 40th win of the season and ninth in a row Friday night at home.
It was a close one, with the Vees getting their victory in overtime against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for a 3-2 win at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
The Silverbacks got the first goal, but a powerplay goal from the Vees midway through the first period made it a tie game.
Another goal from the Vees' Jay O'Brien secured their lead, but a late third period goal from the Silverbacks tied the game.
In overtime, Danny Weight became the hero and took the Vees to victory with a goal just 1:12 into the extra frame.
Vees goalie Yaniv Perets turned aside 16 of the 18 shots he faced in his 23rd win in between the pipes.
The Vees (40-11-1-1) conclude their week with a rare Sunday home game as they finish off their six-game season series against the West Kelowna Warriors (14-30-5-3) at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
The afternoon affair is set for 2:00 PM with tickets available for purchase at the Valley First Box Office as well as online at ValleyFirstTix.com.
