Vees' Jackson Niedermayer takes on police dog

Dog tests Niedermayer

A brave few of the Penticton Vees took on a police dog this week.

A group of Vees received a live demonstration Tuesday of the Penticton RCMP’s police dog services, from Cpl. Jason Goodfellow.

Vees forward Jackson Niedermayer, son of NHL legend Scott Niedermayer, donned an arm guard to experience the takedown power of a four-legged Mountie.

The same group of Vees also got to poke around inside a Penticton fire truck Tuesday.

The Vees are hosting their annual First Responders night Saturday at the South Okanagan Events Centre where they will face off against Nanaimo. First responders such as police, fire, SAR members and paramedics receive free admission.

The Vees are also teasing a major announcement that will be made prior to the start of their Friday night game against the Vernon Vipers.

Penticton plays tonight in Salmon Arm at the Shaw Centre. The game will be broadcast on EZ Rock AM 800 as well as HockeyTV.com with the pre-game show kicking off at 6:40 p.m.
