Vipers face Silverbacks

It's playoff time in the BC Hockey League and the Vernon Vipers will be taking on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in round one of the Interior Division playoffs.

The Vipers ended the season with an 8-3 trouncing of the Trail Smoke Eaters at Kal Tire Place Saturday.

The Vipers placed second overall in the BCHL, three points behind Okanagan rivals Penticton Vees who ended the season with 86 points to win the league banner.

The Silverbacks finished the season in 14th spot overall with 54 points.

The first two playoff games will be played in Vernon Friday March 2 and Saturday March 3 before the actions shifts to the Shuswap for games three and four on March 6-7.

If additional games are necessary they will alternate between Vernon and Salmon Arm March 9-11.

Vipers head coach Mark Ferner told Hockeytube.net he was proud of how his squad performed during the regular season.

“This team has faced some adversity, no doubt about it. This organization has faced some adversity and for them to rebound from the passing of our owner Duncan Wray, that month of January was tough on everybody,” said Ferner.
