The Penticton Vees have signed 19-year-old defenseman Michael Campoli out of Boston College, the team announced Tuesday.
Campoli has been at the NCAA Division I school since the start of 2016-17. He played 12 games with Boston College last year, recording one assist, and didn't dress for a game this season.
Prior to starting his NCAA career, Campoli played two seasons in the junior A ranks in the United States Hockey League.
“We’ve seen how players such as Scott Conway and Nick Jones in the past that have come back from the NCAA and had a positive impact on our program," Vees head coach, general manager and president Fred Harbinson said in a news release.
"We feel Michael will add the same to our defence core.”
Harbinson also called Campoli a 'great skating defenseman,' who is known for his defensive play.
Campoli's stats would also indicate he's a stay-at-home defender. His last goal in a game came in the 2012-13 season as a bantam player.
Born in Montreal, Campoli is a dual-citizen in Canada and the United States.
He has represented the U.S. in international play — he won a silver medal during the 2014-15 season playing in the World under-17 Hockey Championship.
Penticton returns to action following the holiday break with games in Wenatchee on Dec. 29 and 30.
