Okanagan Sun grab 10 first and second team all-Canadians

Sun nab 10 all-stars

Ten members of the Okanagan Sun have been named first or second team Canadian Junior Football League all-Canadians.

The list includes four first-team and six second-team all-Canadians.

The group is led by defensive ends JaQuintis Summers and Jarveon Williams who were both named to the first team.

The pair made life miserable for opposing quarterbacks all season long. Summers, who is a finalist for CJFL defensive player of the year, led the nation with 12 sacks to go along with 17 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Williams was right behind with 11 sacks, 14 tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. His 35-yard fumble recovery touchdown kickstarted the Sun comeback in the national semi-final.

Defensive back Tariq Brown, who led the nation with seven interceptions was named to the first team as was offensive lineman Kaiden Kerntopt who made the squad for the second straight year.

Dual-threat receiver/kick returner Jordayne Falconer was recognized as a second-team all-Canadian for both.

Offensive linemen Zach Barnard and Peter Kellington were also recognized along with BCFC rushing leader Gerren Hardisty, punter Grady Hay and kicker Liam Attwood, who became the CJFL’s all-time leader in field goals during the season.

The Sun will be in Saskatoon this weekend to take on the Hilltops in the Canadian Bowl.

Kickoff is 11 a.m. Pacific Time Sunday.
