Metro Vancouver to get another snowy blast of winter this week

Another winter blast on way

Environment Canada has issued an alert for Metro Vancouver as low-elevation snowfall could arrive early this week.

There's "potential for light snow and patchy freezing drizzle during [the] Tuesday morning commute," the federal agency warned Monday.

The special weather statement, which includes southern Vancouver Island and the Fraser Valley, cautions people to prepare for up to 4 centimetres of snow and slippery conditions.

Freezing drizzle is also expected, adding to the slipperiness.

Luckily, the poor weather conditions aren't expected to stay long.

"Temperatures are forecast to rise Tuesday afternoon, resulting in periods of light snow changing to periods of light rain," states Environment Canada.

Currently, the forecast for the week is filled with grey skies and lots of precipitation, mostly as rain and showers. As the weekend approaches, the chance of flurries and at or below-zero temps return to the forecast overnight.
