Police investigating after 17-year-old killed in Williams Lake ATV incident

One dead after ATV rollover

A teenager is dead following an ATV rollover on a trail in Williams Lake, according to police.

In a news release published Monday, Williams Lake RCMP said officers are investigating after the fatal incident, which happened just after midnight on Sunday.

According to police, the victim was a 17-year-old youth.

“Williams Lake RCMP attended to the gravel area at the end of Gun a Noot trail after being requested to assist with [an] ATV rollover,” police said.

“Officers attended the scene were paramedics and fire rescue personnel were providing medical assistance. The youth was transported to hospital where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.”

Police said initial evidence indicates the youth wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Williams Lake police and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP detachment.
