Youth snatch, drag dog over rocks on Sunshine Coast

Youth snatch, drag dog

Sunshine Coast RCMP are looking for information after two boys injured a small dog while it was on a walk with its owner in Davis Bay.

At about 8 a.m. on July 2, two boys approached a woman while she was walking her dog on the beach, said an RCMP news release. One of the boys snatched the leash and dragged the dog over the rocks, said the release.

"The small dog was crying as it was being dragged forcefully by its leash while the boys were laughing. The boys then dropped the dog and leash on the rocks and left the area towards Wilson Creek," said the release. "There had been no interaction between the dog owner and the boys prior to this incident."

The dog was treated for injuries to its stomach, paws and legs.

The news release describes one boy as about 16, short dark hair, ball cap, red hoodie and black shorts. The second boy is described as about 13, tall, average build also with a ball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 604-885-2266 or [email protected]
