Surrey RCMP seek witnesses after targeted shooting

Man shot in Surrey

Police have confirmed a 19-year-old man was shot last night in the Guildford area of Surrey.

Mounties are looking for witnesses as part of the investigation into the shooting, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Flamingo Place. After receiving reports of shots fired in the area, police received another call saying a man had been shot.

After he'd been shot, police say the victim fled the scene.

"Police were able to locate the man, who was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries at an alternate location in Newton," the RCMP state in a press release. "The 19-year old victim was transported to hospital."

Police are now seeking witnesses in what they say was a targeted shooting.

"Surrey RCMP General Investigations Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation,” says Corp. Vanessa Munn. “Although the investigation is in the early stages, evidence indicates that this was a targeted shooting between parties known to each other.”

Tips can be called in to Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or report it online.
