405 new cases, six deaths

There were 405 more positive COVID-19 tests registered in British Columbia in the past 24 hours, including 97 in the Interior.

The new cases bring B.C.’s total since the pandemic began to 219,584 cases, and 3,071 remain active. Active cases increased by 50 since Thursday.

Of these, 276 people are hospitalized with the disease, a decrease of 12, and 95 people are being treated in the ICU.

There are currently 585 active cases within Interior Health. Forty-seven Interior residents are hospitalized with the virus, including 31 who are in critical care.

Another six new COVID deaths have been reported throughout B.C. in the past 24 hours. Three deaths occurred in the Fraser Health region, two occurred in Island Health while one occurred in Vancouver Coastal Health. To date, 2,351 British Columbians have died after contracting COVID-19.

There has been one new healthcare facility outbreak at Kamloops' Ponderosa Lodge. There remains five active outbreaks among care homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals.

In the past 24 hours, 25,233 doses of the vaccine were administered in B.C. As of Friday, 85.1% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 81.8% have received their second dose.

The new/active cases include:

110 new cases in Fraser Health – Total active cases: 990
45 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health — Total active cases: 498
97 new cases in Interior Health — Total active cases: 585
57 new cases in Northern Health — Total active cases: 351
96 new cases in Island Health — Total active cases: 646

From Nov. 25 to Dec. 1, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 58% of cases and from Nov. 18 to Dec. 1, they accounted for 65.9% of hospitalizations.
