424 new cases, three deaths

There were 424 British Columbians who tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, including 93 in the Interior.

The new cases bring B.C.’s total since the pandemic began to 216,758 cases, and 3,061 remain active. Active cases increased by 46 since Wednesday.

Of these, 295 people are hospitalized with the disease, a decrease of 23, and 112 people are being treated in the ICU.

There are currently 608 active cases within Interior Health. Forty-three Interior residents are hospitalized with the virus, including 29 who are in critical care.

There were three new COVID deaths reported throughout B.C. in the past 24 hours, including one in Interior Health and two in Fraser Health. To date, 2,316 British Columbians have died after contracting COVID-19.

There have been two new healthcare facility outbreaks at Maple Ridge's Ridge Meadows Hospital and Vancouver's St. Paul's Hospital. There remains 10 active outbreaks among care homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals.

In the past 24 hours, 22,123 doses of the vaccine were administered in B.C. As of Wednesday, 91% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 87.5% have received their second dose.
