RCMP investigate bomb scare in car, bridge closed for hours

Bomb scare closes Hwy

Highway 1 near Lonsdale Ave. in North Vancouver is now open after being closed for hours until early Wednesday morning.

The RCMP bomb squad was called in after they received a report of a potential bomb threat in a vehicle.

CTV News Vancouver is reporting that RCMP were called to the scene of a fight between two drivers who had been in a collision at 7:30 p.m. when one of the drivers was taken into custody he said there was a bomb in his car.

That forced Mounties to shut the bridge down while they investigated the report.

No word on whether a bomb was ever found but the road was closed until 3 a.m. Wednesday.
