B.C. has had 78 new COVID-19 cases, no deaths, in past 24 hours

78 new cases, no deaths

There have been 78 new COVID-19 cases in British Columbia in the past 24 hours, including 31 in the Interior.

The new cases bring the total positive tests in the province to 148,641, but there remains 729 active cases. Active cases rose by 37 since Tuesday.

For the second day in a row, the Interior has once again led the province with the most new cases Wednesday, making up close to 40 per cent of B.C.'s new cases.

COVID-19 hospitalizations dropped by two since Tuesday, to 48, and 16 of these people are being treated in ICU.

No new COVID deaths have been reported Wednesday, and there remains 1,763 total deaths in the province.

Another 63,493 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours.

As of Friday, 80.1 per cent, or 3,711,930 eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose, while 55.6 per cent, or 2,577,909 people, have received their second dose.
