BC Highway Patrol 'out in force' on provincial roadways with the lifting of travel restrictions

Cops 'out in force' on hwys

With provincial travel restrictions now lifted, BC Highway Patrol says they will be “out in force” enforcing the rules of the road.

The provincial police highways unit says the lifting of travel checkpoints “is not your licence to disregard the rules.” Officers will be out to issue tickets and impounding vehicles for speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, lack of restraints and other high risk driving behaviours.

“We would like to remind all motorists to make smart decisions when it comes to driving,” states Superintendent Holly Turton, Officer in Charge of BC Highway Patrol.

“Please obey the rules of the road for your safety and that of others. Our officers work hard to keep our highways safe, but we need people to drive with care so that we can make our highways safer together.”

Driving is a privilege, said BC Highway Patrol, adding the province “is a leader when it comes to holding drivers accountable for their actions.”
