Trail RCMP investigating report of possible police impersonator on Highway 3B

Imposter Mountie sighting?

Ongoing incidents of cars being stopped by alleged police imposters have Trail RCMP investigating a truck with red and blue lights in its grill.

RCMP are seeking the public’s help in locating the truck after receiving a report of it in the early morning hours of March 26.

A motorist spotted the white pickup truck travelling west on Highway 3B, with activated red and blue lights in the front grill of the vehicle.

The motorist was travelling east towards Trail, BC and was passed by the truck going the opposite direction and noted it did not look like a typical police vehicle.

Although RCMP officers searched the area on the highway and in the surrounding areas, they were unable to find a vehicle that matched the description.

“Although the truck did not turn around and follow the motorist in this case, there have been reports of similar incidents recently in other nearby areas and we are asking the public for their assistance in identifying this vehicle,” Sgt. Mike Wicentowich, detachment commander for the Trail RCMP said in a press release.

Back on March 22, police were made aware of an incident where a police impersonator pulled over a vehicle on Highway 33 between Rock Creek and Kelowna.

Police were later notified about an incident on March 20 where a motorist was travelling on Highway 6 between Vernon and Lumby when a white-coloured vehicle, described as an SUV or pickup, pulled in behind them and activated red and blue lights.

Trail RCMP are continuing to investigate the white truck and are asking the public if they have any information on this vehicle or have seen or experienced anything similar to please call them at: 250-364-2566.
