Man killed in UTV rollover south of Quesnel

Killed in UTV rollover

A Cariboo man died from injuries suffered Wednesday when he was thrown from a utility vehicle.

Quesnel RCMP, who were called to the property near Kersley shortly after 5 p.m., said the man was dumping a load of debris when the vehicle, also known as a side-by-side, started to roll.

It went about 200 metres down a steep slope before becoming lodged in a tree. The man was thrown and tumbled another 200 metres to a dry bank along the Fraser River.

With the help of Quesnel Search and Rescue, the man was extricated and rushed by ambulance to Quesnel Airport, then flown to the University Hospital of Northern B.C., "but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries."

The man's name was not released.
