B.C. Wildfire Service, local department douse fire near Lillooet

Wildfire out near Lillooet

The Lillooet Fire Department and B.C. Wildfire Crews made quick work of a fire on the town's northern edge.

Spotted yesterday, the fire grew to three-quarters of a hectare says fire information officer Madison Smith. However, by this morning it was out.

"I'm not sure when exactly it was discovered, but it didn’t last long," she says.

According to the B.C. Wildfire Service map the fire was near the Old Bridge in Lillooet, north of the downtown area on the Fraser River.

Smith says no structures were threatened during the fire and there were no injuries.

It's believed to be human caused at this point, but an investigation is ongoing.
