B.C. announces 47 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, 0 deaths

There have been 47 new cases of COVID-19 reported in British Columbia in the past 24 hours, including seven in the Interior Health region. 

No new deaths were recorded, keeping the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in B.C. since the pandemic started at 195.

The new cases bring the province's total positive tests to 3,834. Of these, 384 have come from the Interior.

There are currently 351 active cases in B.C. Nine people are hospitalized and six are in ICU. A total of 3,288 people within the province have fully recovered from the virus. 

There have been no new healthcare facility outbreaks in the past 24 hours. Three active healthcare outbreaks remain in long-term care or assisted living facilities.

No new community outbreaks have occurred since Tuesday, but community exposure events continue to take place throughout the province and on flights in and out of B.C. 

"As COVID-19 remains in our communities, so does the anxiety and stress that comes with the uncertainty, the increased isolation and the need to take precautions in everything we do," reads the joint statement from B.C.'s top health officials on Wednesday afternoon. 

"Younger people, in particular, may not fully understand why many of the activities they normally enjoy are no longer available, look different and require us to interact with each other in new ways.

"We remind people to take the time to check in with your friends, family and neighbours, young and old, to provide a mental health boost and to ensure they have the support we all need - especially for those who may be self-isolating."
