BC Cider Week takes place August 6-16 across province

BC Cider Week coming

The fifth annual B.C. Cider Week will be celebrated this August with a variety of virtual and small scale events happening across the province, catered to COVID-19 gathering requirements.

Special events will take place from Aug. 6-16, ranging from cider pairing dinners to special products featuring cider as an ingredient.

This year's festival will include new features such as cider and cheese to-go kits, cider picnics and other ways to improve the take-home cider experience.

Many liquor stores are expected to stock a greater range of cider for the week in efforts to bring the flavours of the province into local communities, and most of the nearly 40 cideries across the province have special offers in place.

“As people make the most of exploring British Columbia, cider is another way to explore the beauty and flavours of a region,” says Emily Ritchie, executive director of the Northwest Cider Association.

“There are cideries and cider events throughout the province as we have teamed up with a variety of businesses to offer unique experiences.”

Events in the Okanagan include:

  • Soma Craft Cidery, Kelowna - releasing a new cider created for BC Cider Week.
  • NOMAD Cider, Summerland - hosting food pairing, cider tasting and education events as well as  tasting room discounts
  • Woodward Cider, Kamloops - offering free tastings, hosting Sunday Session Aug 9 for free music 3-5pm and hosting a food truck on-site the Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays of Cider Week
  • Creekside Bar & Grill, Kelowna - offering cider on-site on their brand new family patio, or to-go from their cold beer and liquor store.

For more information, visit the website or the Facebook page. New events will be added in the lead up.
