Coquitlam RCMP warns public after lemons full of needles found

Needle-filled lemons found

Coquitlam RCMP are warning the public after two lemons full of sewing needles have been discovered along trails in Port Coquitlam.

Mounties are asking the public to stay alert and call police if they encounter another lemon and to not throw the evidence away in the garbage.

The first needle filled lemon was found hanging on a branch in Gates Park on June 22. The second lemon was found on July 14 near a trail by the Coquitlam River at Whyte Avenue.

Those who may encounter something that is a deliberate attempt to harm must call police and not send an email. Both of the discovered lemons were tossed into the garbage by the people who found them and by the time police were informed over email, the evidence was gone, making the investigation virtually impossible.

Police are unsure if the person who left the lemons was intending to hurt someone.

"If you are leaving these lemons full of needles in public, we ask that you stop, and then talk to us to explain what you were doing," says Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.

If you have any information on this, contact Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 or call 911 if the situation is happening in front of you.
