Man in 70s dies from virus

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m.

A man in his 70s is the second person in the Interior Health region to pass away from the COVID-19 virus.

Interior Health spokesperson Karl Hardt said the man died on Monday, after he was admitted to the hospital in early April.

There have been 105 deaths in B.C related to the virus, and now two in the Interior Health region.

While this latest death was confirmed by the health authority the day after the man's passing, it took IH six days to inform the public of Dennis Rau's death, the first person in the IH region to pass from COVID-19 related complications.

B.C.'s Ministry of Health would not provide any information on where the man is believed to have contracted the disease from, and if the case was related to any of the known outbreaks across the region.
