Ticket sold in Surrey won $16-million Lotto 6/49 jackpot

$16M lotto winner in BC

Hey, here’s some good news amid all the COVID-19 misery.

Someone in B.C. is now $16 million richer. Is it you?

A lottery player who purchased a Lotto 6/49 ticket in Surrey matched all six numbers to win Wednesday night’s jackpot.

The single winning Lotto 6/49 ticket was the only winner from across Canada to win the April 15 jackpot of exactly $16,460,052.50.

You can’t do much with it right now, other than pay off mortgage if you have one – maybe buy some better pots and pans to cheer at 7 p.m. each night for the health-care heroes. You certainly can't take a luxury vacation anytime soon.

But, hey, at least you have something to look forward to when (if?) this is all over.

Players can check and purchase their tickets onlineor on the BCLC Lotto! app. BCLC will announce the specific retail location in Surrey that sold the winning ticket once the winner has come forward to claim the life-changing prize.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BCLC encourages the player who purchased the winning Lotto 6/49 ticket to contact BCLC Customer Support at 1-866-815-0222 to begin the alternate prize-claim process via telephone.

Earlier this week, following the alternate prize-claim process, BCLC paid Coldstream’s Randall McDuff with his Guaranteed Prize of $1 million from the March 28 Lotto 6/49 draw.
