63 new cases, 1 death

The provincial government has announced another 63 coronavirus cases and one death over the past two days.

During her daily update Monday, Dr. Bonnie Henry said 26 new cases were detected between Saturday and Sunday with 37 confirmed today.

There are now a total of 128 cases in the Interior Health region, meaning there have been no new cases in the region since the last announcement on Saturday.

Province-wide, there have been 1,266 confirmed COVID-19 cases. A total of 783 patients have fully recovered.

There are 140 in hospital in B.C. as a result of the virus with 72 of those in intensive care.

The death announced Monday was a "community death" of a man in his 40s. The virus has now killed 39 people in B.C.

“We must be steadfast in continuing to hold the line,” Dr. Henry said, noting that new virus cases have not increased over the past several days, urging the public to continue social distancing.

“We must keep that firewall strong.”
