53 new cases, 4 deaths

Another four British Columbians have died from COVID-19, bringing the total deaths in the province to 35.

During the daily press conference Friday, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced another 53 new cases of the virus have been confirmed in the province, bringing the total to 1,174. Of these cases, 641 people have fully recovered.

A confirmed case has also been discovered at a new long-term care home, bringing the total outbreaks at senior homes to 22. Dr. Henry said 176 of all total cases in the province are related to these care homes.

Three of the four recent deaths are related to the Lynn Valley Care Centre and the Haro Park Assisted Living Centre.

There are now 126 confirmed cases in the Interior Health region, up five from Thursday. There are also 12 people in region being treated in hospital, up from 10 on Thursday.

Province-wide, 146 people with COVID-19 are being treated in hospital, which is actually down two from Thursday.
