Castanet launches fourth bureau in Kamloops

Castanet comes to Kamloops

Since launching two years ago, KamloopsMatters has quickly grown into one of the Thompson-Nicola’s leading news websites.

Nearly 70,000 unique readers visit the site each week for the latest headlines from Kamloops and beyond. This week, you will notice a bit of a change.

KamloopsMatters is joining Castanet, becoming Castanet's fourth bureau, in addition to Kelowna, Vernon and Penticton.

Castanet Kamloops will provide readers with the same community content they've come to expect, while adding daily local and live videos, classifieds and a mix of provincial and international headlines.

“Kamloops is a vibrant market and we’re very excited to be part of the community providing news, classifieds and more,” said Chris Kearney, Castanet senior vice-president and general manager.

Local news coverage will be expanded to also include communities surrounding Kamloops, such as Merritt and Sun Peaks, making Castanet Kamloops the home page for the entire Thompson-Nicola.

“Our newsroom will continue to provide hyper-local coverage to our readers,” said Tereza Verenca, Castanet Kamloops editor. “Whether it’s a new business opening up in the city or a breaking wildfire situation, you can count on us for the latest information.”

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to launch Castanet Kamloops! We will continue to provide effective marketing solutions to local businesses and support local initiatives,” said Shannon Mitchell, Castanet Kamloops general manager. “I would welcome the opportunity to virtually meet with all key stakeholders in Kamloops to discuss how we can work together and build solid partnerships.”

Castanet Kamloops will operate out of offices at 1-275 Seymour St.
