Highway 97 closed after fatal crash south of Prince George

Fatal crash on Highway 97

UPDATE: 1:40 p.m.

Prince George RCMP say a crash south of the city that closed Highway 97 this morning was fatal.

A logging truck, SUV and pickup collided, resulting in the logging truck spilling its load on the highway.

One person is confirmed deceased and another has been sent to hospital with undetermined injuries. 
 
RCMP, Commercial Vehicle and Safety Enforcement, WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroners' Service continue to investigate the collision. Its cause is so far undetermined.
 
The highway remains closed, and it is not known when it will reopen, says Cpl. Mike Halskov.

A serious collision has closed Highway 97, just south of Prince George.

RCMP and other emergency services are on scene, and the highway is expected to remain closed in both directions for several hours, says Cpl. Craig Douglass.
