Up to eight dogs perished in a fire this morning in Langley.
CTV News reports firefighters were called to a trailer fire shortly before 4 a.m. at 40th Avenue near 216 Street.
Crews arrived to find the trailer fully engulfed. It appears between six to eight dogs, being held in cages at the time, died in the trailer fire, said Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Ferguson.
A resident that attempted to rescue the dogs is being treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews suspect the trailer was being used as an unlicensed dog shelter.
