Environment Canada issues snowfall warning for Rogers Pass

Another snowfall warning

Travellers heading east should be advised that Environment Canada has issued another snowfall warning for the Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.

Snowfall warnings have been on and off all week for the Trans-Canada highway and Environment Canada is calling for as much as 20 cm as heavy snow is falling over all of the Columbia regions as a frontal system crosses the BC Interior. Snow will continue through much of the day and into the evening with total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm possible.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult.

There has already been a head-on collision near Revelstoke Friday and Revelstoke RCMP Staff Sergeant, Kurt Grabinsky says, "police would like to remind all drivers that roadways are constructed for safe driving at or below the posted speed limit. Driving to road conditions means travelling at a rate that ensures the ability to safely maintain your lane and stay on the road. All drivers are encouraged to slow down: drive the speed limit, and do their part to ensure that everyone gets to their destination safely."
