Disabled Richmond teen forced to take drugs by school bullies

Boy forced to take drugs

A father says his disabled son was forced by bullies to take drugs at his Richmond school.

Hamza Elburai, 16, was hospitalized Thursday after the incident, his father Ibrahim told CTV News.

Hamza was told he'd be assaulted if he didn't take the unknown substance.

"In school, somebody had threatened him – told him that if (he didn't) take these drugs, they would hurt him. So he took the drugs," Elburai said.

The teen, who has spina bifida, was given the drugs in a bathroom at McRoberts Secondary School.

Hamza barely remembers anything that happened, and was found by concerned students, who helped get him back in his wheelchair and took him to the office.

The school district is investigating the incident along with RCMP.
