Winter is not far away, as up to 40 centimetres of snow is forecast for the Pine Pass area today through Saturday.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Highway 97 north of Prince George.
The warning affects Highway 97 through Williston and into Peace Country as a Pacific front makes its way through the region and could eventually evolve into an Arctic front.
As a result, there's expected to be a long period of snow mixed with rain and between 20 and 40 cm of accumulation by Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, a freezing rain warning is in effect for Prince George.
