Faculty, university fail to reach deal at UNBC

UNBC faculty on strike

Faculty at the University of Northern B.C. in Prince George are now on strike.

Faculty association president Stephen Rader said in an email that talks broke off at 2:30 a.m. today.

"UNBC faculty are on strike for the second time in five years," he said. "The faculty association is disappointed to find our members on the picket line again, and remains committed to negotiating a fair, sector-norm contract."

According to a statement by UNBC on its website, no deal was reached despite talks going into the early morning.

"The Employer stands ready to continue bargaining and remains committed to reaching an agreement at the table," the university said in a press statement.
