A former Amazing Race Canada contestant has died after falling from a B.C. mountain peak.
CTV News reports search and rescue teams were called after Kenneth McAlpine failed to return from a hike on Mount Gimli, west of Slocan, on Monday.
South Columbia Search and Rescue said they spotted the hiker Tuesday morning while being flown onto the mountain in a helicopter.
McAlpine was about 250 metres below the path where he was believed to be hiking. The recovery process was highly technical and required a second helicopter and long-line team.
McAlpine appeared on Season 5 of The Amazing Race Canada on “Team Give’r” with friend Ryan Lachappelle.
